Before I got married, one of the girls I was living with decided that I needed “wife training.” I sucked at cleaning our apartment, couldn’t cook more than mac & cheese (basically anything in a box!), and had no idea how to make an apartment feel like a home. Seriously, I was pathetic. Luckily, my friend thought it would be a lot of fun to teach me all of these things in the year that we lived together before I was married.
First thing that we worked on was cooking. While obviously everything else would come in time, being able to make a quick meal on my own was needed pretty urgently since I no longer had a food court to run to when I was hungry. When you are crazy busy and just learning to really cook on your own, quick and easy meals are the way to go! The hardest part is finding ones that are also healthy. But yay for Pinterest!
While I can’t say that I’ve become the greatest cook, I feel like I can hold my own in the kitchen now! Here is a little round up of some of my favorite recipes to use! As I put together this little round up of our favorite recipes, I realized that we really like chicken! I hope you don’t mind!
Recipes to Try
Warning, this one takes FOREVER to make but is my favorite!
This is by far the simplest! I usually make a whole batch of the powder and the sauce along with chopping up a few chicken breasts for the week for a quick lunch. I also like my sauce a little sweeter than this so I add a 1/4 cup of powdered sugar to the sauce.
4 | Parmesan Garlic Noodles – Another one from Hapily Unprocessed:
And another yum! I made this for a family gathering and everyone loved it!
The thing I was the most scared to try but it was wonderful!
6 | Homemade Pizza:
Another quick go to that doesn’t really call for a recipe. I usually get dough mix and then we pick random toppings. My favorites are pepperoni and sausage!
7 | BBQ Pulled Chicken Sandwiches:
Another one that I don’t have a recipe for but I’ll quickly share! Frozen chicken breasts can go straight into the crock pot with a sauce made of 1 cup of Sweet Baby Rae’s BBQ sauce, 3/4 cup of brown sugar, and 1/2 cup of vinegar.
